CONGREGATION BETH MENUCHAH
v.
Dr. Deborah J. Febish
Psak Din
Order and Judgment
October 3, 2010
25 Tishri, 5771
This matter is being heard by a Panel of Shophetim in
accordance with the rules of the Shuvat Yisrael Beit Din
and with the consent of the parties. Furthermore, this
matter is being resolved via hearing in front of the Shuvat
Yisrael Beit Din, with the explicit written testimonies of
the parties which have been written into record before the
Beit Din. In accordance with Matthew 18:15, 16, a meeting was initiated by John and Gail Egnew of Three Feathers Gathering and extended to Dr. Febish of God’s Garden Ministries hereinto called the Nitvah- respondent/defendant in an effort to offer every opportunity to voice grievances and to bring forth reconciliation between the parties. A second invitation via letter from this court was sent to Dr. Febish; she failed to respond to each invitation. A hearing was held today, October 3, 2010 at 7:00p.m.in regard to the conduct and allegations of Dr. Febish brought forth by Rabbi Ian Michaels and Congregation Beth Menuchah hereinto called the Toveah–
claimant / plaintiff.
This matter involves several grievances of alleged doctrinal heresies, inconsistent doctrinal statements, antisocial behavior in a religious setting, and slander of the defendant witnessed by several members of Congregation Beth Menuchah, namely: Rabbi Michaels, Rebbetzin Michaels, Shannon Williams, Evelyn Christian, Martin Speller. Two attempts to discuss the parties’ grievances were given to Dr. Febish through John and Gail Egnew - one via oral communication, and one via Hazmanot - Summons of this Beit Din in an effort to offer Dr. Febish every opportunity to voice her grievances and provide reliable witnesses. The defendant failed to respond to each invitation, and to appear before the Panel of Judges.
FINDINGS OF FACTS
A. Congregation Beth Menuchah is an Orthodox Messianic Jewish
congregation which meets each Saturday at 11:00a.m.
B. Rabbi and Rebbetzin Michaels, both recognized members in good
standing with the Shuvat Yisrael Beit Din – Rabbi Michaels acts as
Segan Beit Din, Rebbetzin Michaels as its Administrator. Being
officers of this court, the litigants, namely: Rabbi and Rebbetzin
Michaels submits to the final renderings of this court, and have not
held to any undue persuasive actions unto the final renderings of any judgment.
Doctrinal Heresies
C. That Dr. Febish by her own admission does not regard the written Word of the scriptures to be the final authority for all matters of faith and doctrine, but instead relies upon the so-called “unwritten/unspoken Word“ to counter whatever matters of faith and doctrine from the scriptures that she chooses not to adhere to.
D. That Dr. Febish holds to strange, unorthodox, and fanciful fables contrary to the recorded accounts of scripture.
1. That the Heavenly Father appeared to the Virgin Mary and gave her a cup to drink which, when accepted by her, caused her pregnancy with the Messiah.
2. That Dr. Febish by her own admission holds in high regard the teachings of Edgar Cayce, a renowned spiritualist known for falling into trances while receiving medical remedies from demonic forces.
3. That Dr. Febish by her own admission counseled one of her patients who was plagued by a poltergeist to establish communication with said spirit. She determined that the spirit was the soul of a dead man who was seeking to receive salvation.
4. That Dr. Febish by her own admission does what she calls “intuitive work” for the Hanover Police Department.
5. On the issue of Divine Governmental Order outlined in I Corinthians 11, Dr. Febish stated that Y’shua the Messiah did not follow that order.
Inconsistent Doctrinal Statements and Antisocial Behavior in a Religious Setting
E. That Dr. Febish after months of claiming Jewish heritage, upon her own admission, stated that she was not “just” Jewish or Christian, but a “Kabbalist” and “all things to all people“.
F. That Dr. Febish respectfully agreed with the wearing of the customary Orthodox Jewish head covering at all services stating that “Cherokee women also cover their heads in the meeting house during worship.” Yet, while Rebbetzin Michaels was counseling a guest on the issue of the head covering, Dr. Febish spoke over the Rebbetzin stating to the guest that said guest did not have to wear the covering because she was Cherokee.
G. That Dr. Febish upon her own admission stated membership with the Essene Brotherhood. The Qumran Community had strict rules of protocol. One rule was that no one was allowed to walk out of a service for any reason they pleased. On Shabbat, August 21, 2010 in direct rebellion against the teaching on the head covering, she walked out of the service, removed her head covering, sat down in the pasture surrounding the place where Congregation Beth Menuchah then met, threw up her hands as in worship, then returned to the meeting wearing a cowboy hat.
H. That at the end of the service on August 21, 2010, Dr. Febish joined with another female guest, Susan Burton, and lambasted Rebbetzin Michaels on the teaching that Rabbi Michaels gave. When the statement was made by Ms. Burton that “I will not wear the covering,” Dr. Febish responded with “Amen, Sister!”
Slander
I. Having approached Dr. Febish’s leadership for a meeting, namely, John and Gail Egnew of Three Feathers Gathering, Dr. Febish was, in turn, invited and consequently refused to attend any such meeting. She then began to bring forth several railing accusations and slanderous remarks to malign the character of Rabbi Michaels. She further warned her leadership to beware of Rabbi Michaels.
HALACHA IN THIS CASE
A. We believe and declare according to Isaiah 8:20 "To the Torah (Law) and to the Testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." It is universally understood and accepted among all true disciples of Y'shua that the Scriptures of Israel, both the Tanach [Old Testament] and the Brit Chadasha [New Testament] in their original text are the inspired and inerrant Word of Elohim [God]. They are together a consistent revelation to man and are the only authoritative text in the deciding of all matters of faith and doctrine. All extra-biblical writings outside of the sixty-six books of canonical Scriptures whether of Jewish or Christian origin are not accepted as authoritative writings.
B. We believe that the events in history as recorded in the Scriptures are true and accurate. This includes the account of the visitation to Miryam, the mother of Y'shua, who was impregnated with Messiah when she was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit in fulfillment of the prophecies (Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 7:14, 9:6) and according to the account recorded in Luke 1:26-38. This account does not include the Heavenly Father handinga cup to Miryam for her to drink.
C. Scripture strongly warns against following after any so-called "prophet" because of signs and wonders or words that come true by that prophet, if that prophet begins to lead us away from the Torah/Instructions of Elohim (Deut. 13:1-5). Edgar Cayce, although regarded by many to be a "Bible teacher", was given over to spirits that spoke through him during his trances of which he never remembered anything about. In his trances, he spoke of past lives, lending to the unbiblical belief of reincarnation. Cayce was known to have said that even he did not know the source of the voices that spoke through him during his unconscious episodes. According to the Scriptures and true spiritual discernment given by the Holy Spirit, Edgar Cayce was a false teacher and all true believers should reject his teachings and legacy.
D.Scripture clearly forbids consulting with familiar spirits, and/or communication with the dead (Deut. 18:11), and we know that the spirits of men do not linger on the earth since "it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Heb. 9:27). Therefore, counseling a person to establish communication with a spirit is clearly outside the confines of Scriptural commands.
E. Divination is defined as unusual "intuitive" ability where a person operates within the network of the demonic. A medium is an individual held to be a channel of communication between the earthly world and the world of spirits [Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary]. In light of the other aforementioned areas where Dr. Febish has involved herself with the demonic, it is clear that her "intuitive work" for the police amounts to nothing less than performance as a psychic, the scriptural term known as a medium.
F. Divine order of authority is outlined in I Corinthians 11 where the Father is head of the Messiah, and Messiah is head of the man, and that man is the head of the woman. To suggest that the divine Messiah would disregard His own divine order and dishonor His head, the Heavenly Father, is further evidence of extreme confusion and not having Scripture as the final authority for all matters of faith and doctrine.
ORDER
Thus, in light of all of these factors:
It is hereby ORDERED that Dr. Deborah Febish be officially
excommunicated from Congregation Beth Menuchah.
By reason of the defendant’s cognizant and thus purposeful
absence to speak on her own behalf, all said allegations
concerning misconduct have been dismissed. We find the defendant
seruv– in contempt of court for failure to appear according to
Torah, [Lev. 5:1; Lev. 19:16-18; Ex. 20:16] and
the evidence presented to the Panel by five reputable
witnesses regarding Dr. Febish’s actions by hearing, she is
hereby noted as rakhil (talebearer/slanderer), a diviner, and a heretic [Deut. 18:10; Ex. 22:18; I Sam. 15:23; Is. 8:19, 20; II Chron. 33:6; Micah 5:12; Gal. 5:19-21] amongst Israel and the Body of Messiah at large, by the authority which Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ) has given to His people according to Matthew 18, and shall be publicly excommunicated from Israel/the Body of Messiah by remedy of Torah with full Scriptural restitution possible only after: stepping down from any notion of pastoral authority, or any other position of leadership in Israel/the Body of Messiah at large. Dr. Febish must also submit herself to a reputable and professional full gospel deliverance ministry that honors the Scriptures as the only authority for all matters of faith and doctrine, and undergo spiritual and psychological counseling from such. Once her good standing has been determined in Israel/the Body of Messiah at large, and only after thorough investigation and offering to the court satisfactory official documentation from an aforementioned institution confirming complete repentance of rebellion and infractions against God's Word, by her initiative a telehearing will be entertained before the Shuvat Yisrael Beit Din where a full confession will be heard and offered to Rabbi and Rebbetzin Michaels, Congregation Beth Menuchah, and the Shuvat Yisrael Beit Din.
So ordered on this 25th day of Tishri, 5771, corresponding
to October 3, 2010.
